Welcome to new members.

Membership of the Lincolnshire Group is open to all with an interest in plants and gardens. However our constitution does require that you should also be a member of the national Hardy Plant Society, which is itself a group both interesting and beneficial to its members.
Details for membership of the Lincolnshire Group can be obtained by Emailing.

When I Was A New Member

When I was a new member, about 4 years ago now, I was fortunate to know some of the members. I knew though that I wanted to be part of the group and knew I would benefit from knowing these like-minded people. They were after all garden fanatics.

I knew, (and probably still do), little about the technicalities of gardening. Some of the speakers caught my interest, others didn’t. After all we’re all different. All that interested the other members was that I was interested and enthusiastic about gardening.

I’m now so involved I’m in my second year of serving on the committee, I run the brochures and miscellaneous sales stall at the monthly meetings, organise the Brigg Mini Group and I am now in my first year of organising the group annual holiday.

So, I can only say to new members, persevere and you will get a lot out of the Lincolnshire Group. I have set out a few pointers for new members which will hopefully make your membership a fun time.

  1. Come along to the meetings. Let yourself be known to a committee member – we’re the one’s with the green badges.

  2. If you feel a little daunted by it all, please come along again and persevere.

  3. Browse along the plant stall – everyone will talk to you and if you have any queries please do not be shy to ask – they’re very knowledgeable on the stall and have a Plant Finder to help.

  4. Not all speakers interest everybody at the same time – we all have different interests.

  5. After the talk, come along for a cup of tea, this is free and you can join in with the ever popular gardening gossip. You will be most welcome.

  6. Probably one of the most beneficial ideas is to join one of the Mini-Groups – Brigg, Louth or Lincoln. These groups are what they say, mini, with only a proportion of members. This makes them a little less daunting for new members and it is an excellent way to meet the members. We have visits during the summer and are all very friendly.

So at first as with all groups, it might be a little daunting and scary, but at the end of the day you will wonder why you didn’t get involved earlier. It’s a wonderful way to spend your time and not least of all, meet like-minded people.
